Virden
Virden is a growing community with many attractions, recreation and sporting opportunities, service organizations, education system and strong business sector.
The historic Aud Theatre is host to many entertainment groups and community events. The Pioneer Home Museum takes visitors back in time. The CP Station houses an art gallery that is sure to please one’s artistic senses. The local library offers many programs for a variety of ages. Many of these attractions are located in beautiful heritage buildings.
There is a thriving sports and recreation community in Virden. Tundra Oil Place is home to the Junior A Virden Oil Kings as well as several minor hockey teams and the figure skating club. There is an outdoor swimming pool with waterslide, ball diamonds and fair ground in the same facility. The town also hosts a curling club, soccer pitch, lawn bowls, tennis courts and golf course.
In late August, Virden hosts the Virden Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Days. It’s a community wide event with a parade, pet shows, rodeo events, demolition derby and rodeo dance. The rodeo showcases talented cowboys and cowgirls from the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Canadian Cowboys Association. A great time is had by all.

These groups are active in meeting the various needs of Virden’s residents through dedicated volunteerism. Virden has four schools and many organizations who strive to bring education and literacy opportunities to the community.
Virden Collegiate Institute is the high school. The staff really cares about their students. The staff wants to know how students are motivated and how it can help students be more prepared for life after high school.
This high school offers Senior One to Four classes (Grades 9-12) with a diverse variety of programming including trades and technology. In addition to the normal high school diploma, diplomas are also issued for Business Education and Power Mechanics
